our nation’s cultural heritage, and memorialize
heroes and great moments in our nation’s history.

and visitors alike, Greater Washington National Parks
offer great history, great nature, and great fun.
Greater Washington National Parks contain more than
100 individual park sites, ranging from community parks
that serve as neighborhood gathering places to national
monuments that attract visitors from around the world.
More than 87,500 acres of parkland and open space incorporate
thousands of historic structures and hundreds of archaeological
sites; hundreds of miles of trails, bike paths, riverfront,
scenic parkways, and historic canals; numerous statues,
presidential memorials, historic forts, Civil War battlefields,
